- Researched
business drivers for a major
construction machinery
manufacturer and a major
retailer. Tested
correlation and causality of a
wide range of possible
drivers. One application
tested the commonly held belief
that consumer confidence affects
retail sales. We were able to
test 986 permutations of six
consumer confidence variables
versus forty categories of
internal sales data with a
variety of leads and lags in less
than a day.
- Tracked sales
of an on-line computer services
provider. Seasonally
adjusted sales data and provided
senior executives with the
information required to
make pricing decisions.
- Analyzed the
development fee justification
studies of three school districts
in California.
- Researched the
agricultural damages expected
from a 100-year flood.

- Constructed
and maintained several satellite
models at a major Fortune 50
corporation to monitor specific
externalities. For example,
one quantified the effects of
closing a major division, another
quantified the effects of bad
publicity in one of the business
lines. The models were
built into a menu driven system
that led the user through all of
the required steps, reading in
the exogenous data from other
models, downloading the
endogenous variables from the
mainframe, and providing options
for the updating of the add
factors.
- Developed a
large cross sectional analysis of
variance model in SAS to
investigate how age, income and
family type effect spending on a
variety of merchandise
goods categories.
- Developed a
consulting capability at a major
mortgage information data vendor
to increase the value of their
market share data.
