- Automated the
routine to monitor the
effectiveness of a new store
layout. The new streamlined
procedure allowed the staff to
run the updates in house, saving
the company $50,000 per month in
outside consulting fees.
- Developed an automated graphical report monitoring industry data. The system utilizes a seamless interface between Microsoft Access, Excel, and the latest X12 seasonal adjustment software from the U.S. Census. The automation reduced the update time from days to minutes.
The final output distribution was also automated
using VBA, Adobe Acrobat and MS Outlook.
- Created an "early warning" system to track company sales relative to annual targets. The system seasonally adjusted the data, calculated the sales that would be necessary to meet the annual plan, and allocated the sales over the remaining months of the year to illustrate what sales would be required to get back to the annual plan.

- Automated the
reports and graphs generated by
the strategic planning department
of a large retailer into an
efficient unified menu driven
system. The system was
capable of updating any of over
2000 graphs and numerous reports
with minimal user
interface. The user was
prompted for which reports and
graphs were required, and how the
graphs should be arranged.
The program determined the data
that needed to be downloaded,
performed the download, refreshed
the graphs and reports, and sent
them to the printer. The
support staff was able to run the
updates without any prior
knowledge of software or
economics. The system was
capable of exporting high quality
graphics to PowerPoint for board
level presentations.
- Built a reporting
system to track market share for
each line of business of a major
retailer.
